Real Grass Roots Petition Parliament Concerning Youth Football
Two Youth Club Coaches have petitioned the Scottish Parliament
concerning the problems they see with the behaviour of Senior Clubs and
the Youth Initiatave. If you click on the linked to the website and click
on the link concerning the video of the committee proceedings it is quite
interesting. It lets you see the way committees in parliament work and it
must be said the very professional way the two youth coaches put their
case.

15's Regional Squad beaten 4-3 in Regional Final
The North Regional 15's squad were narrowly defeated 4-3
by West in the Inter Regional Final held at Toryglen Indoor Football
Centre in Glasgow. North found themselves a goal down after a keenly
contested first half when they had more of the clear cut chances. They
leveled the score within two minutes of the restart before once again
conceding the initiative to the West by giving away a penalty which was
converted. Scores were once again level when the North themselves scored
from the penalty spot. Play was now raging from end to end and the North
got their noses in front when West failed to clear a corner properly and
the ball was bundled over the line. This reversal spurred West into attack
and they equalised from a fiercely struck shot from the edge of the box.
West finally claimed victory with a stunning effort from wide on the
right. The cross cum shot evaded all the North defenders and ended up in
the back of the net.

Scottish Cup Glory For Dyce
Dyce BC 14s continued the ADJFA's run of having a team win a Scottish
Cup every year since the formation of the SYFA, when they fought back from
2-0 down to win in extra time against Leith Athletic FC at the Excelsior
Stadium, Airdrie, today Sunday 10 May.
Dyce were 1-0 down at half time and their worries were compounded when
Leith scored a second goal midway through the second half. Leith looked
like lifting the cup when the score still stood at 2-0 with only five
minutes of play remaining, but Dyce had other ideas! Dyce scored with five
minutes of play left and, then, in the third minute of stoppage time for
injuries, they equalised to make the score 2-2 and send the match into
extra time.
The impetus was now with Dyce and they carried on where they left off in
normal time by taking the game to Leith and finally scoring their third,
and what proved to be the winning goal, in the second half of extra time.
Congratulations to all the players, coaches etc for a tremendous
achievement!

Albion fail to take Tynecastle
Albion BC 13's failed in their bid to become the first Aberdeen
side to win the 13's Scottish Cup. Tynecastle FC were just too strong for
them.
The Aberdeen side looked to have held the Edinburgh team in the first
half but a soft penalty five minutes before the break saw Tynecastle take
a lead into the halftime break. In the second half apart from the first
five minutes Albion just never looked like getting back on level terms.
Tynecastle just seemed to up their performance and dominated Albion for
long spells. It was no surprise when they increased their lead with 15
minutes left on the clock. Albion did try and rally but they never really
troubled the Tynecastle defence. The final score was 2-0 in favour of
Tynecastle .PHOTOS

Dyce 14's Hit Double to win thru to Scottish Final
It was double delight for Dyce BC 14's when they scored
twice without reply in their semi final against Musselburgh Windsor at
Polo Park.
In a nervy encounter Dyce just deserved the verdict.
they had the better of the first half and scored just before the halftime
break. The tie was not made safe however until six minutes from time when
they snatched that all important second goal.
They will now face Leith Athletic in the final on Sunday
10th of May at the Excelsior Stadium Airdrie.

Free SFA Coaching Seminar
The Scottish Football Association North Region are running a FREE
In-service day at the Meadows Sports Centre, Ellon on Wednesday 22nd
April. The session will run from 7pm – 9pm and will be open to anyone
with an interest in football to attend. The theme(s) on the evening will
include Developmental 4v4 small-sided games aimed at children aged from
6-9 years old, which is in conjunction with the current National Plan. All
those attending will receive a DVD and booklet covering Developmental
Fours and the Creative Player. This is an opportunity for all coaches at
any level of the game to come along and hopefully pick up a few new
coaching drills or practices. This session will be open to managers,
coaches’ helpers, parents and anyone else who is involved in the game.
The SFA see it as an important part of developing coaches and the game
across the North of Scotland. North regional Manager, Graeme Sutherland
said “This session will help compliment the work currently being done by
coaches across the 6-9 year old age group and will be particularly useful
for clubs and volunteer coaches who are soon to begin the ADJFA 4v4 pilot
from May – June this year. We are keen to ensure that anyone who is
interested is welcomed to this event whether they are a current volunteer
within club or schools football or are considering volunteering in the
future” To reserve a place on the in-service please phone the North
Regional office on 01343 540101 or download an application form from www.footballcentral.org

Albion Triumph over Rangers to go thru to Scottish Cup
Final
Albion BC cruised past Rangers SABC to win through to the Scottish
Youth FA Challenge Cup Final where they will meet Tynecastle BC at
Airdrie's Excelsior Stadium.
A three minute spell starting in 12th minute saw Albion race into a
three goal lead. A further two goals before halftime for Albion all but
killed off the tie.
Rangers did score within five minutes of the restart but they were
never a match for Albion on the day and Albion restored their five goal
margin with possibly the best goal of the game. The six one victory
possibly slightly flattered Albion BC but the result was never in any
doubt.
For co-managers John Hill and Bruce McGregor this is a case of deja vu
as John has managed an Albion team to Scottish Cup success for the last
three years and for the last two Bruce has assisted him.

Fabulous Fours Football Festivals
The Aberdeen and District Juvenile FA in partnership with the Scottish
Football Association are looking to stage "4 v 4" Small sided
Games Festivals over six weeks. This format of game is favoured by the
likes of Manchester United for developing skills in young players.
Research has shown that the young players get far more touches of the ball
and therefore can improve their touch and technique.
Jim Crawford of Aberdeen FC is a strong advocate of this format. "
Four versus four replicates what happens in a real game situation. There
is a diamond formation with one forward, two wide and one deep. Youngster
can only benefit from playing in such festivals."
A meeting for all interested clubs whose players will be playing in the
nines next season will be held in the Balgownie Bowling Club Scotstown
Gardens Bridge of Don Aberdeen at 7.00 pm Monday 23rd March 2009 to
discuss arrangements.

Around 50 coaches were shown the latest coaching methods adopted by
Aberdeen FC when Gothenburg Great Neil Simpson put his youth charges
through their paces at Cove Rangers Allan Park. Hand outs of the drills
were given and the coaches in attendance could be since taking notes
regarding the various coaching points to emphasise in the drills.
At the end of the training session a question and answer session was
held in the club rooms so the coaches had a chance to find out more about
the drills.
Graham Sutherland SFA Regional Manager who organised the session was s
impressed that he too was seen taking notes.
