Futsal Festival Fun

Nearly 180 boys and girls took part in the Futsal Festival for 11 year olds at Culter Sports Centre. The Festival was a joint venture by The Aberdeen and District Juvenile FA and Aberdeen FC.

Neil Simpson the Community officer for the Dons in the Community who helped organise the event was delighted with the turn out of teams.

“It was great to see so many youngster take part and enjoy the games. A total of thirty teams played 63 games and scored 85 goals but more importantly they all enjoyed themselves. We are quite keen to expand the Festival next year to include other age groups. The obvious time to hold it would be in December and January when the weather is not conducive for youngsters developing their skills outside. We are indebted to Aberdeen City Council and the staff at Culter Sports Centre for the help and assistance they gave during the tournament.”

“ I would also like to thank the trainee referees Scott Morgan, Craig Ross Daniel Forbes Richard Milne and Craig Ross who officiated at the games. Sandy Roy of the

Referees Association thought it would a great way for these trainees to get experience of handling matches. It was a great learning experience for them. It also avoided us from taking referees from league matches.”
